Dialysis Nurse

About the role

The Registered Nurse will provide direct patient care for individuals undergoing hemodialysis. Working closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, the dialysis nurse ensures safe and effective treatment before, during, and after each session.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, prime, and operate hemodialysis machines, including mixing dialysate and verifying equipment settings.
• Transport patients to the treatment area, record pre‑ and post‑dialysis vital signs, and explain the procedure to reduce anxiety.
• Cannulate arteriovenous grafts, fistulas, or dialysis catheters according to protocol and connect patients to the machine.
• Monitor blood flow rates, pressures, and machine performance, adjusting as needed and calculating fluid removal or replacement.
• Observe patients for adverse reactions, document findings, and communicate significant changes to the nephrologist.
• Assist with patient discharge, documentation, and transport to vehicles.
• Clean and disinfect machines and chairs between patients and participate in infection‑control initiatives.

Required profile

• Current RN licensure and experience in renal or dialysis nursing.
• Ability to anticipate patient problems and act proactively.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
