Heavy Equipment Operator - Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

About the role

The Landscape Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates machinery on landscaping construction or grounds maintenance sites across Carnival Corporation's global destinations, including Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas. The operator handles excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes and other heavy machinery for landscaping, grading, excavation and maintenance, and may also assist other landscaping labourers and technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Operate backhoes, bulldozers, loaders, graders and similar machinery to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock and gravel, and prepare, level and shape sites according to landscaping designs.
• Operate power shovels and other specialised machinery to excavate rock, ore or other materials, following site plans and keeping surrounding areas stable and safe.
• Move, load and unload materials, supplies and cargo, and help transport equipment and tools to the site.
• Ensure proper stacking and securing of materials to prevent damage or hazards.
• Assist landscaping crew members with construction, maintenance and other site tasks, and collaborate with the team to finish projects on time.
• Report equipment performance issues promptly and perform other duties assigned by the Landscaping Lead or Supervisor.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience; hospitality or a related field education is a plus.
• At least 1-2 years' experience operating heavy machinery, with the ability to operate it proficiently.
• Fluent conversational English and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Customer service experience in a similar role, guest-facing experience and knowledge of maintenance.
• Physically fit, able to work outdoors and stand for long periods.
• May be asked to work a shift schedule at any destination.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data entry and reporting tools.
• Working knowledge of computerised accounting and payroll systems.
• Detail-oriented, proactive problem solver who can multi-task and plan under tight deadlines.
