Kitchen Steward

About the role

We are looking for a dependable Kitchen Steward to keep our kitchen and dishwashing areas clean, sanitary, and well‑organized. The role is physically demanding and takes place in a fast‑paced, hot and damp environment, requiring strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate and maintain the dishwashing machine safely.
• Sort, stack, and return clean items to their designated locations.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary dishwashing area throughout the shift.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors regularly.
• Remove trash, manage dumpster areas, and keep them tidy.
• Clean kitchen mats, work surfaces, restaurant areas, and restrooms as directed.
• Refill and empty cleaning and sanitising solutions as required.
• Immediately clean spills to ensure safe, dry floors.
• Follow proper hand‑washing, sanitation, and food‑safety procedures.
• Report any equipment or sanitation concerns to management.
• Assist with general cleaning tasks and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward, Dishwasher, Utility, or Cleaner is preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb independently.
• Capable of standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling for the entire shift.
• Comfortable working in a hot, damp environment and performing repetitive, physically demanding duties.
• Dependable, punctual, hardworking and able to follow instructions.
• Willing to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Knowledge of basic sanitation and workplace safety procedures.
• Ability to read and understand labels on cleaning chemicals.
