Launch and Recovery Technician I

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Launch and Recovery Technician I to support operations at the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) on Andros Island, Bahamas. The role involves handling NAVSEA/NAVAIR undersea vehicles, performing launch and recovery activities, and maintaining a variety of launcher systems in both shore‑based and maritime environments.

Key responsibilities

• Launch and recover NAVSEA/NAVAIR vehicles from vessels and helicopters.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic maintenance on launcher systems such as Telescopic Target Launcher, MK‑32, Mod‑17 Surface Launcher, MK‑146 Helicopter Launcher, MK‑59 Torpedo Tube, and Smokey SAM Launchers.
• Operate fire control systems during launch operations aboard marine vessels and helicopters.
• Conduct incoming inspections, handling, preparation, post‑run processing, and transport of RFI undersea vehicles following NAVAIR/NAVSEA/NAVFAC guidelines.
• Operate tractor‑trailers, forklifts, and overhead cranes in compliance with NAVFAC standards.
• Perform rigging operations and handle hazardous ordnance material up to 1.1 lb per NAVORD standards.
• Execute additional job‑related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience with launch and recovery, hydraulic, or electronic systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Valid passport and driver’s license; willingness to reside in a remote location with limited medical facilities.
• Pass drug, alcohol, and DOT medical screenings.
