Municipality and Utilities Manager

About the role

The Municipality and Utilities Manager leads the operation and maintenance of all municipal and utility services on the island, ensuring reliable delivery of essential infrastructure such as transport assets, security systems, waste management, fuel supply, water production and power generation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage mechanic shop operations for land, marine and recreational assets, implementing preventive maintenance programs.
• Direct security and surveillance systems, ensuring cameras, access‑control and monitoring equipment remain functional.
• Oversee waste‑management and recycling programs in compliance with Bahamian environmental regulations.
• Control island‑wide fuel storage, distribution and safety standards.
• Supervise grey‑water treatment, containment and disposal.
• Lead power‑generation operations, including diesel generators and alternative‑energy systems, ensuring reliability and capacity planning.
• Maintain integrated utility monitoring, communications and control infrastructure.
• Manage reverse‑osmosis water production and distribution to guarantee a consistent potable‑water supply.
• Develop and maintain preventive‑maintenance programs, equipment logs, SOPs and operational procedures.
• Coordinate procurement of spare parts, consumables, fuel and vendor contracts.
• Prepare operational reports, performance metrics and KPIs for senior leadership.
• Ensure compliance with Bahamian environmental, safety, labour and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, service providers and government agencies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in operations, utilities, facilities or infrastructure management.
• Proven experience operating or overseeing power‑generation, reverse‑osmosis water treatment and wastewater management systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in remote or island environments.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and utility infrastructure.
• Ability to manage multiple service lines autonomously.
