Phlebotomist – Contract Position

About the role

The organization is seeking a contracted Phlebotomist to perform venous and capillary blood draws for patients of all ages. The role includes both specimen collection and related clerical tasks, with occasional cross‑training in specimen processing.

Key responsibilities

• Draw intravenous blood from adults and children using aseptic technique.
• Collect capillary blood from fingers, great toe, or heel of infants.
• Label and place specimens in appropriate tubes, microtainers, or culture vials.
• Make rounds on nursing units, obtain requisitions, deliver reports, and manage specimen carts.
• Take charge of phlebotomy services on weekends and holidays as required.
• Assist in training new staff and students on venipuncture and capillary techniques.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow departmental policies.

Required profile

• Certificate in Phlebotomy from an accredited program or equivalent certification (e.g., Certified Office Laboratory Technician, Patient Care Technician).
• 0–1 year of phlebotomy experience.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Medical terminology background preferred.
• Valid AMT or equivalent licensure.
