X-Road Technical Lead / Architect

About the role

We are seeking an experienced X‑Road Technical Lead / Architect to drive the design, operation and evolution of the X‑Road interoperability platform that underpins government digital services. The role combines hands‑on technical work with strategic leadership, collaborating with engineering teams, public agencies and technology partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the X‑Road environment, including Central Servers and Security Servers.
• Design, set up, operate and continuously improve the X‑Road platform and its supporting infrastructure.
• Assist government agencies in onboarding, exposing and securely consuming services.
• Troubleshoot production issues and work with engineers to implement solutions.
• Make practical architectural decisions and establish operational standards and best practices.
• Develop internal X‑Road expertise and long‑term capability for sustainable platform evolution.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in IT.
• Strong, hands‑on experience with X‑Road in a production environment.
• Deep knowledge of Linux, networking, TLS, certificates and PKI.
• Excellent communication skills in English, able to work with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Proactive ownership mindset and ability to operate where processes are not fully defined.
