Acoustic Engineering Technician II

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Acoustic Engineering Technician II to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) on Andros Island, Bahamas. The technician will work alongside acoustic engineers to conduct testing, measurement, and analysis of sound and vibration for naval surface ships.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, install, operate, calibrate, and maintain acoustic and environmental testing equipment, including ADCP and CTD systems.
• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on electronic and mechanical systems, including soldering and generator servicing.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot LAN networks and related hardware.
• Support engineering changes, modify equipment, prepare technical documentation, and track inventory/repair logs.
• Process raw acoustic data with specialized software and assist in creating technical reports and visualizations.
• Serve as the Department Calibration Lab delegate and work up to 16‑hour shifts in at‑sea environments.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or equivalent technical training; additional work experience may satisfy education requirement.
• At least 3 years of experience in engineering, electronics, IT, networking, mechanical, electrical, or oceanographic measurement.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Security+ certification or ability to obtain within four months.
• Medical fitness to reside on a remote island with limited facilities and perform physically demanding tasks.

Required skills

• Experience with ADCP and CTD systems (preferred).
• Proficiency in LAN installation and troubleshooting.
• Electronic/mechanical maintenance, including soldering and schematics reading.
• Coding for data processing/automation (Python, MATLAB).
• Microsoft Windows, Office, and Excel.
