Communications & Lab Services Technician II

About the role

The Communications & Lab Services Technician II supports the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) on Andros Island, Bahamas. This role involves operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, testing and installing a variety of complex communication and tracking systems used by the U.S. Navy.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, test and install communication and tracking systems across AUTEC and CONUS sites.
• Perform component‑level electronic troubleshooting and document repairs.
• Use antenna testers, watt meters, VOMs, pulse generators, communications test sets and dynamic signal analyzers.
• Install and verify electronic tracking devices on U.S. Navy vessels and aircraft.
• Maintain PBX systems, install telephone and CATV drops, and support shipboard communications.
• Train lower‑level technicians and conduct operational acceptance testing for new equipment.
• Maintain spares inventories, administrative records and provide on‑call communications support.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with a background in electronics.
• 2‑4 years of experience in installation, repair and maintenance of communication systems.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Valid passport, driver’s license and ability to work aboard ships at sea.
• Physical ability to lift up to 45 lb, climb, and stand for extended periods.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to reside in a remote location.
