Diver III – Underwater Operations

About the role

Amentum is seeking a qualified Diver III to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) program on Andros Island, Bahamas. The role involves performing limited no‑decompression dives to inspect, repair, install, and remove equipment on U.S. Navy vessels and structures.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct open‑circuit SCUBA dives up to 100 ft without decompression.
• Operate and maintain diving air systems in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Handle and maintain diving gear, including tanks, regulators, communications, mask, and fins.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and small boats per NAVFAC and OSHA guidelines.
• Use underwater camera and video equipment for documentation.
• Perform ordnance/target handling, transport, and recovery operations.
• Maintain the dive boat and associated support equipment.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in military or commercial air diving.
• High school diploma or GED; Commercial Diving Educators Certification or equivalent military certification.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work in an austere environment with limited medical facilities.

Required skills

• Open‑circuit SCUBA and OSHA Diving Air Standards.
• Forklift and overhead crane operation (NAVFAC certification within six months).
• Small‑boat handling and troubleshooting (USN certified or civilian equivalent).
• Underwater camera and video equipment operation.
• SIMRAD GPS and transducer system familiarity.
• Dive planning, dive‑table calculations, and dive‑profile recording.
• Ordnance handling and recovery procedures.
• Knowledge of U.S. Navy technical documentation and reporting.
