Experienced Tax Staff - State and Local Tax (Freeport, Bahamas)

About the role

EY's Financial Services Organization (FSO) tax practice serves the asset management industry, covering hedge funds, private equity funds and mutual funds. It is looking for experienced tax staff focused on state and local tax to join its tax service delivery team in Freeport, Grand Bahamas. You will work alongside tax professionals who handle fund and organizational structuring, tax compliance and on-call advice.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in tax compliance and advisory work for clients
• Work with Managers through Partners on key client issues, mainly state and local tax engagements, implementing tax strategies aligned with client business objectives
• Contribute to tax compliance accounts for hedge funds, mutual funds and/or private equity funds

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a business discipline, and/or an advanced degree in tax or law
• Minimum of 9 months of relevant tax experience
• CPA (or equivalent internationally recognized accounting designation), Enrolled Agent and/or LLM certification preferred; non-certified and partially-certified hires must become certified before promotion to manager
• Ideal: experience serving clients in the wealth and asset management industry, such as mutual funds, hedge funds or private equity funds
• Broad exposure to federal income tax and exposure to state and local tax

• Able to identify key tax technical issues and raise the right questions before work goes to senior or manager review
• Ability to manage multiple work assignments and deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize across multiple clients and engagement teams
