Marine Engineer – Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

About the role

The Marine Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical and auxiliary systems on vessels and marine facilities at Half Moon Cay, a Carnival Corporation destination in the Bahamas. This role ensures safe, reliable and efficient performance of propulsion, power generation, HVAC, plumbing and other critical onboard equipment while supporting overall marine operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of propulsion, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and auxiliary machinery.
• Monitor performance metrics of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to extend equipment life and align with vessel or facility calendars.
• Supervise marine technical teams and external contractors, providing mentorship, task delegation and quality control.
• Ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL), conduct inspections and participate in emergency drills.
• Manage inventory of parts, tools and supplies, and maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in marine engineering or maritime maintenance.
• Relevant certifications such as Chief Engineer License, STCW or Certified Plant Operator (may be required within six months).
• Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, and ability to read technical manuals.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and work in confined, noisy, or variable weather conditions.
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays, on‑shore or offshore.
