Senior Government Relations Manager – Bahamas

About the role

Oceyon is seeking a senior‑level Government Relations Manager based in the Bahamas to represent the company’s interests with the Bahamian government. The role focuses on opening doors at the highest levels, shaping engagement strategy, and securing permits, licences and strategic partnerships for underwater cultural heritage and maritime recovery projects. The position can be undertaken on a mandate basis, part‑time or full‑time, with an immediate start.

Key responsibilities

• Leverage existing relationships to secure introductions to senior Cabinet ministers, especially the Minister responsible for Heritage and Culture, and other permanent secretaries.
• Build and maintain Oceyon’s relationship with the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and national heritage authorities.
• Advise on regulatory positioning, stakeholder mapping and permitting frameworks for underwater cultural heritage and wreck sites.
• Identify and unlock opportunities for permits, licences and strategic cooperation with the Government of the Bahamas.
• Represent Oceyon in meetings with officials, institutions and partners in Nassau.

Required profile

• Based in the Bahamas, preferably Nassau, with ability to meet government stakeholders on short notice.
• 10–20+ years of experience in government, diplomacy, public affairs or business development in the Bahamas.
• Extensive, verifiable network at the highest level of the Bahamian government, including direct access to the Minister responsible for Heritage and Culture.
• Experience in maritime, heritage, mining, exploration or offshore activities is strongly preferred.
• Highly autonomous, entrepreneurial and results‑driven with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
