Senior Manager, FSO Tax - Wealth & Asset Management

About the role

EY's Financial Services Office (FSO) tax practice serves the asset management industry with specialized tax assistance, covering hedge fund, private equity fund and mutual fund taxation, fund and organizational structuring, tax compliance and on-call advice. This Senior Manager position leads tax compliance and advisory work for clients in the Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands.

Key responsibilities

• Lead tax compliance and advisory work for clients, focusing on domestic federal, international and state and local taxation aligned with client business objectives
• Manage tax compliance accounts for hedge funds and private equity funds
• Review securities analysis, make tax adjustments and sign off on K-1s and partnership tax returns
• Review partnership agreements and private placement memorandums for tax implications of book and tax allocations, stuffing provisions, management and incentive fees
• Run day-to-day account activities spread across various locations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a business discipline with at least 8 years of relevant tax experience, or an advanced degree in tax or law with at least 7 years
• CPA (or equivalent internationally recognized accounting designation), Enrolled Agent and/or LLM certification required
• Experience serving clients in the wealth and asset management industry, such as mutual funds, hedge funds or private equity funds
• Broad exposure to federal income taxation and exposure to state and local tax

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of asset management tax
• Analyzing trading reports for tax character and book tax differences such as wash sales, constructive sales and straddles
• Teaching or assisting with firm in-house trainings
• Building client relationships and managing multiple assignments and deadlines
