Staff Accountant

About the role

The Staff Accountant will work full‑time on‑site in Nassau, supporting day‑to‑day accounting operations for a boutique consulting firm. This position involves maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with tax reporting, and contributing to month‑end and year‑end close processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank statements and other ledger accounts.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Support tax report preparation and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Participate in month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries and collaborate with team members.
• Assist with audits and special accounting projects as needed.

Required profile

• Strong core accounting skills, including general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of basic taxation principles and regulatory requirements.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Relevant experience preferred but not mandatory for strong entry‑level candidates.
