Staff Tax Specialist - Wealth & Asset Management

About the role

EY's Financial Services Office (FSO) tax practice offers comprehensive, specialized tax assistance to the asset management industry. As a staff member in the wealth and asset management tax practice, you will work with multi-disciplinary teams from around the world, supporting hedge fund, private equity fund and mutual fund clients. The BBC covers the Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in tax compliance and advisory work for clients
• Work with seniors through partners on key client issues in domestic federal, international and state and local taxation, focusing on tax strategies aligned with client business objectives
• Contribute to tax compliance accounts for hedge funds, mutual funds and/or private equity funds
• Identify key tax technical issues and raise the right questions before work goes to review, consulting when needed
• Manage multiple work assignments and deadlines

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a business discipline, and/or an advanced degree in tax or law
• Minimum of 9 months of relevant tax experience
• CPA (or equivalent internationally recognized accounting designation), Enrolled Agent and/or LLM certification preferred; non-certified and partially certified hires must become certified before promotion to manager
• Ideal: experience serving clients in the wealth and asset management industry, such as mutual funds, hedge funds or private equity funds
• Broad exposure to federal income taxation and exposure to state and local tax
