About the role
The IDB Group seeks a strategic, creative, and versatile Communications Consultant to support the visibility of the Bank across its Country Offices in Jamaica and the Bahamas. You will advise senior leadership, design communication plans, and showcase the development impact of IDB operations and partnerships.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic communications advice to Country Office leadership, ensuring alignment with IDB Group priorities and policies.
- Develop and implement annual communications and visibility plans that support institutional, regional, and country‑level objectives.
- Design and execute communication strategies to highlight the development impact of IDB operations, partnerships, and knowledge products.
- Lead communications planning for high‑profile events, ensuring compliance with branding, messaging, and protocol standards.
- Manage media relations activities, including outreach, interviews, press materials, and reputation monitoring.
- Monitor communications performance, prepare analytical reports, and recommend improvements.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations or related field (or equivalent combination of Bachelor’s degree plus two years experience).
- At least 5 years of professional experience in strategic communications, development communications, public relations or digital content creation, preferably within media outlets, agencies, foundations or international organisations.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) and citizenship of a IDB member country with eligibility to work in Jamaica or the Bahamas without sponsorship.
- No family members up to fourth degree of consanguinity or second degree of affinity employed by IDB, IDB Invest or IDB Lab.
