Teacher of Geography (IGCSE/A Level)

About the role

King's College School, The Bahamas, a growing Inspired Education school currently educating students from Pre-Reception to Year 11, is looking for a Teacher of Geography to join its Humanities department from September 2027. The school will open its Sixth Form in 2027/28, offering A Levels, and the successful candidate will help establish and develop the Pearson Edexcel A Level Geography course, including its independent investigation component. The role also involves teaching across Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9).

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the school's curriculum, policies and external assessment requirements.
• Assess students' in-class and at-home learning regularly and give targeted feedback to drive progress.
• Create a classroom environment where students feel valued, supported and ready to take risks in their learning.
• Work with colleagues, share best practice and take part in professional development.
• Contribute to the school's co-curricular programme and whole-school initiatives.
• Maintain open, constructive communication with parents.

Required profile

• Degree in Geography or a related discipline, plus PGCE, QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching GCSE or IGCSE Geography, ideally Pearson Edexcel International GCSE (Specification A); A Level Geography experience is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of physical and human geography, geographical enquiry, data interpretation and analytical writing.
• Experience planning and delivering geographical fieldwork.
• Enthusiasm for teaching Geography at Key Stage 3; willingness to teach History at Key Stage 3 is desirable but not essential.
• Experience of pastoral care and student wellbeing, and strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
