Teacher of History (IGCSE/A Level)

About the role

King's College School, The Bahamas, is looking for a Teacher of History to join its growing Humanities department from September 2027. The school opened in August 2022, educates students from Pre-Reception to Year 11 and will open its Sixth Form in 2027/28, introducing A Level qualifications. The role involves teaching IGCSE and Key Stage 3 History, and helping build the A Level History course.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that follow the school's curriculum, policies and external assessment requirements, differentiating learning for each student.
• Assess students' in-class and at-home learning regularly and give targeted feedback to drive progress.
• Create a classroom environment where students feel valued, supported and ready to take risks in their learning.
• Work with colleagues, share best practice and take part in professional development.
• Contribute to the co-curricular programme and to whole-school initiatives.
• Maintain open, constructive communication with parents.

Required profile

• Degree in History or a closely related discipline, plus PGCE, QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching History at GCSE or IGCSE level, ideally Pearson Edexcel, with a track record of good academic outcomes.
• Ideally A Level History teaching experience, or the expertise and potential to deliver A Level teaching as the Sixth Form opens.
• Strong historical scholarship, with a commitment to developing students' knowledge, critical thinking, source evaluation and analytical writing.
• Enthusiasm for teaching History at Key Stage 3; willingness to teach Geography at Key Stage 3 is desirable but not essential.
• Experience of pastoral care and strong relationships with families.
