Chief Engineer – Luxury Caribbean Resort

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to lead the engineering operations of a large, all‑inclusive luxury resort in the Caribbean, overseeing more than 500 rooms, multiple food & beverage outlets and extensive recreational facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee repairs and operation of the physical plant and engineering facilities.
• Maintain mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment, including HVAC, ventilation and heating systems.
• Organise and implement preventive maintenance programmes for all electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Supervise a team of 50+ maintenance staff and contract workers.
• Liaise with contractors, write specifications and ensure compliance with local regulations.
• Manage departmental budgeting, cost control and coordinate with the accounting department.
• Oversee sewage plant, generators, water‑park systems and related infrastructure.

Required profile

• Minimum 6–8 years of experience as Chief Engineer in a large island resort or hotel with a central plant and Building Management System.
• Proven leadership ability to manage a large team and work hands‑on when needed.
• Island‑resort experience, including sewage plants, generators and water‑park operations.
• Strong financial acumen for budgeting, cost management and collaboration with accounting.

Required skills

• HVAC (air‑conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration) systems and associated refrigerants.
• Electrical power distribution, switchgear and prime/standby generator equipment.
• Hydraulics, water‑works balancing and sewage plant operations.
• Building Management System (BMS) and preventive maintenance planning.
• Advanced Excel for forecasting, budgeting and job costing.

What we offer

• Competitive salary starting at US$100,000 per year, plus performance incentives.
