HVAC Technician – Celebration Key, Bahamas

About the role

Carnival Corporation is looking for an HVAC Technician for its Celebration Key ship in the Bahamas. The technician installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, including refrigeration storage units, ice machines and beverage equipment, and works with other maintenance and engineering staff to keep systems running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Install and maintain industrial, residential and commercial mechanical, air-conditioning, heating and ventilating equipment and control systems, and calibrate newly installed equipment.
• Repair motors and air-conditioning systems, troubleshoot refrigeration equipment failures and service equipment to company and manufacturer standards.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on refrigeration systems, vacuum cooling systems, compressors, valves, pumps and related components.
• Check refrigerant levels, clean filters and coils, and calibrate thermostats.
• Ensure equipment complies with safety, environmental and quality standards, and follow HESS health, safety, environmental and security policies, using PPE and reporting hazards.
• Distribute ice to each department on ship days and carry out other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience; hospitality or related education is a plus.
• HVAC certification, an associate degree in HVAC or industrial maintenance, or equivalent work experience with course certifications is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and compliance schematics.
• Advanced mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills, and excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Physically fit, able to work outdoors and lift at least 50 pounds; may need to stand for long periods and work shifts at various destinations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data entry and reporting tools.
• Strong time management, organization and teamwork skills, with good communication and problem-solving abilities.
