Tax Manager - Wealth & Asset Management (FSO)

About the role

EY's Financial Services Office (FSO) tax practice serves the asset management industry, covering hedge funds, private equity funds and mutual funds. As a manager in the wealth and asset management tax practice, you will coordinate tax compliance and advisory work for clients, focusing on domestic federal, international and state and local taxation, and implement tax strategies aligned with client business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage tax compliance accounts for hedge funds and private equity funds
• Review securities analysis, make tax adjustments and sign off on K-1s and partnership tax returns
• Review partnership agreements and private placement memorandums for tax implications of book and tax allocations, stuffing provisions, management and incentive fees
• Run day-to-day account activities spread across various locations
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams from around the world within the Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a business discipline with at least 5 years of relevant tax experience, or an advanced degree in tax or law with at least 4 years
• CPA (or equivalent internationally recognized accounting designation), Enrolled Agent and/or LLM certification required
• Ideal: experience serving wealth and asset management clients such as mutual funds, hedge funds or private equity funds
• Broad exposure to federal income tax and some exposure to state and local tax

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of asset management tax
• Analyzing trading reports for tax character and book tax differences (wash sales, constructive sales, straddles)
• Ability to mentor and train others, and to build client relationships
• Managing multiple assignments and deadlines
