Message Center Operator

About the role

The Message Center Operator will support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) mission on Andros Island, Bahamas. This position ensures secure handling of classified communications, monitors circuit performance during test operations, and maintains accurate records of all message traffic.

Key responsibilities

• Load classified material using electronic devices while following strict COMSEC procedures.
• Monitor communications circuits in real‑time test operations and resolve outages.
• Observe all circuits for ACC when ACC staff is unavailable.
• Report equipment malfunctions to technical and management personnel.
• Establish and maintain radio and telephone communications, adhering to proper procedures and record‑keeping.
• Maintain a detailed daily official record of tasks, duties, and events in the Communications Message Center.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; 3‑5 years experience in a communications/computer media environment.
• Military Message Center or EKMS experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Government clearance and pass Message Center qualifications within 60 days of hire.
• Willingness to work rotating 12‑hour shifts and reside in a remote location with limited medical facilities.
• U.S. citizenship, valid passport and driver’s license.
• Physical ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 lb and tolerate circuit noise and alarms.
