Boat Captain – Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

About the role

The Boat Captain is responsible for the safe operation, navigation and maintenance of rescue and tour vessels at Carnival’s Half Moon Cay destination in the Bahamas. The role ensures guest and crew safety, compliance with maritime regulations, and a high‑quality guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑departure and post‑arrival vessel inspections and verify safety equipment compliance.
• Oversee routine maintenance of engines, generators, navigation systems and electrical components.
• Manage docking, anchoring and transit maneuvers while maintaining situational awareness of weather and sea conditions.
• Lead safety briefings, coordinate emergency procedures and communicate with shore personnel.
• Monitor guest loading and unloading, provide clear instructions during boarding and transit, and address guest questions.
• Maintain accurate daily logs of vessel activities, passenger counts and incident reports.
• Prepare and submit maintenance reports, incident documentation and operational forms.

Required profile

• Valid captain’s license and proven experience operating rescue or tour vessels.
• Strong knowledge of maritime laws, safety regulations and navigation rules.
• Ability to lead a crew, conduct safety briefings and respond to emergencies.
• Excellent situational awareness and judgment in varying weather and sea conditions.
