Charter Captain

About the role

The Moorings is seeking an experienced Charter Captain to deliver exceptional guest experiences aboard our power and sailing catamarans in the Bahamas. You will be responsible for safe navigation, guest safety briefings, and overall vessel management during charters.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day management of the vessel, guests, and crew to ensure safety and efficient operation.
• Pilot, navigate, anchor and operate the yacht at all times, adhering to high safety standards.
• Maintain technical and general aspects of the yacht, report issues promptly, and keep detailed logs.
• Support boat movements between bases, dock operations, and customer service activities.
• Greet clients, facilitate boarding, deliver comprehensive safety briefings and yacht information.
• Act as host for charter parties, organizing excursions, activities and providing local insights.
• Provide basic instruction for snorkeling, kayaking, paddle‑boarding and manage tender operations safely.
• Maintain cleanliness of the yacht to The Moorings’ standards and ensure proper hand‑over after each charter.

Required profile

• Bahamas A Class Captain’s License and right to work in the Bahamas.
• Valid STCW certification and ENG1 (or equivalent) medical check.
• Proven experience as captain on 45‑50 ft catamarans or similar vessels.
• Strong swimming ability and competence in water activities.
• High safety awareness and excellent customer service skills.
