Dietary Assistant

About the role

The Dietary Assistant supports the hospital’s food service operations, ensuring patients receive safe, nutritious meals on time. This role involves handling food preparation, tray assembly, and maintaining a clean kitchen environment within a healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient meal trays, tea service, and catered functions promptly.
• Follow proper dishwashing procedures, including rack assembly, presoaking, and chemical replenishment.
• Check diet cards before assembling trays and initiate menu changes when required.
• Assemble and refrigerate food trays accurately, adhering to FIFO stock rotation.
• Receive, store, and record temperatures for foodservice supplies and equipment.
• Perform routine and special cleaning duties, restocking supplies as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum high school diploma and at least one year of food service experience.
• Current Health Certificate – Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Ability to work independently, multitask, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on confidentiality.
