Economics and Operational Research Intern

About the role

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Bahamas Country Office is seeking an active undergraduate student to join the team as an Economics and Operational Research Intern for 2026. You will support the Country Economist and other specialists in delivering economic analysis, research, and data‑driven insights that contribute to the Bank’s development agenda in the Bahamas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in qualitative data collection, including scheduling, preparing interview guides, and taking notes during interviews and focus groups.
• Enter collected data into databases or spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Clean and validate data by identifying and correcting errors or inconsistencies.
• Organize and securely store data, creating logical file structures and proper labeling.
• Support database management, data analysis, and survey‑based data processing for economic‑operational research projects.
• Provide administrative assistance to the Country Representative and other team members as needed.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, preferably in Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
• Strong interest in economic development, research, and data‑driven decision making.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
