Senior Accountant

About the role

BankPro, a private digital bank, is seeking a Senior Accountant to strengthen its Finance team in Nassau, The Bahamas. This hands‑on position is central to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance, and delivering high‑quality financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily accounting operations across assigned legal entities and business units.
• Assist in month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, preparing journal entries and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, and documentation to ensure integrity of financial records.
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP and regulatory standards.
• Draft management reports and financial commentary for review by the CFO.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and escalate significant issues.
• Prepare payroll reconciliations and coordinate with HR.
• Assist the CFO with regulatory reports, including central‑bank returns, Basel III/IV, LCR and NSFR.
• Coordinate external and statutory audits, preparing schedules and responding to queries.
• Process intercompany transactions, nostro/vostro accounts, and FX revaluations.
• Support budgeting, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Identify efficiency improvements and mentor junior accounting staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA) in progress or completed.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Working knowledge of IFRS, especially IFRS 9, IAS 39, IFRS 16.
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluency in English.
