AI and Transport Digital Transformation Consultant

About the role

The Transport Division of the Infrastructure and Energy Department seeks a consultant to drive its AI and digital transformation agenda. You will work across internal and external activities to embed digital tools, data‑driven decision‑making, and intelligent transport solutions throughout the Division’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the Division’s AI and digital transformation strategy.
• Design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and practical guidance to raise AI and digital literacy among staff.
• Identify, assess, and disseminate emerging technologies, best practices, and use cases related to AI, digital infrastructure, intelligent transport systems, digital twins, and mobility data platforms.
• Produce knowledge products such as sector studies, case studies, analytical reports, presentations, briefing notes, and internal communications on AI and digital transformation in transport.
• Identify opportunities to integrate AI and digital components into sovereign‑guaranteed loans, technical cooperation operations, and advisory activities.
• Assist with the administration, monitoring, and reporting of digital transformation initiatives across the Division.
• Collaborate with area leaders, operational teams, and external partners to position the IDB as a leader in transport digitalization in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Required profile

• Specialized expertise in AI and digital transformation applied to transport systems.
• Experience designing and delivering training or capacity‑building activities.
• Proven ability to assess emerging technologies and translate them into practical guidance.
• Strong analytical skills for developing sector studies, reports, and briefing materials.
• Experience working with government agencies, sector stakeholders, and international development initiatives.
