Boat Captain – Half Moon Cay (Bahamas)

About the role

The Boat Captain is responsible for the safe operation, navigation, and maintenance of rescue and tour vessels serving Half Moon Cay, a private island destination of Carnival Corporation. You will ensure the safety and comfort of guests and crew while complying with all maritime laws and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑departure and post‑arrival vessel inspections to verify operational readiness and safety equipment compliance.
• Oversee routine maintenance of engines, generators, navigation systems, electrical components, and rescue gear.
• Lead safety briefings, coordinate emergency procedures, and communicate clearly with crew, passengers, and shore personnel.
• Monitor weather, sea conditions, and navigational hazards; ensure vessels operate within legal speed zones and navigational rules.
• Manage guest boarding and disembarkation, maintain accurate logs of passenger counts and vessel activities, and respond to guest inquiries courteously.
• Prepare and submit incident and maintenance reports as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a vessel captain or senior deck officer with a strong record of safety and compliance.
• Valid captain’s license and certifications required by the Bahamas maritime authority.
• Excellent situational awareness, judgment, and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
