Emergency Medical Technician

About the role

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in a fast‑paced hospital environment. The role requires hands‑on assistance with clinical procedures, emergency response, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with patient care, wound care, dressing changes, cervical immobilization, and splint or cast application.
• Insert, maintain, and remove intravenous (IV) access and monitor medication infusions.
• Support minor surgeries, medical and surgical emergencies, and specimen collection (blood, urine, sputum, stool, bacterial smears).
• Document vital signs, bedside care, and observations; prepare rooms and equipment for procedures.
• Maintain stock levels, restock supplies, and handle patient scheduling and correspondence.
• Follow hospital policies, safety regulations, and standard precautions.
• During emergency responses, assess scenes, secure patients, communicate with dispatch and medical direction, and deliver basic and advanced life support.

Required profile

• Experienced EMT with ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with patients, staff, and physicians.
• Knowledge of local geography, alternative routes, and available support agencies.
• Reliability in attending scheduled shifts and adhering to departmental policies.
