Engineering Manager

About the role

The Engineering Manager will lead all engineering and maintenance operations for a luxury resort on a Bahamian family island. The role ensures guest facilities, villas, private residences, and essential systems are kept to the highest standards while minimizing disruption to the guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor and schedule engineers, technicians and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance programmes for the resort, villas and private residences.
• Oversee repairs, renovations and projects, conducting regular inspections and maintaining accurate service records.
• Manage HVAC system operation, servicing and repair, staying current with energy‑efficient practices.
• Direct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the electric golf‑cart fleet, keeping detailed service logs.
• Control the engineering department budget, procure equipment and parts, and present forecasts to resort management.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes and environmental standards, and maintain emergency‑response plans.
• Respond promptly to engineering‑related guest concerns and collaborate with other resort departments to uphold service standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil preferred).
• Proven facilities‑management experience in a luxury hotel or resort environment.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and relevant certifications.
• Experience maintaining electric golf carts, including batteries and charging systems.
• Demonstrated leadership, budgeting and procurement skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety, environmental sustainability and guest service.
• Willingness to relocate to a Bahamian island.
