Head of Accounting, Tax and Compliance

About the role

The Head of Accounting, Tax and Compliance leads the organization’s finance function, overseeing accounting, tax and SOX compliance. Reporting to the CFO, this senior role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely tax filings and robust internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the accounting function: manage general ledger, month‑end and year‑end close, reconciliations, accruals, provisions, fixed assets and preparation of statutory and management financial statements.
• Maintain balance‑sheet integrity and develop accounting policies aligned with applicable reporting standards.
• Oversee all direct and indirect tax compliance, including preparation, filing, payment, accruals, coordination with external advisors and monitoring legislative changes.
• Lead the SOX compliance framework: document controls, perform testing, coordinate walkthroughs, track deficiencies and drive remediation.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and management reporting with reliable financial data and analysis.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within accounting, tax and control functions.
• Coach and develop accounting staff to build a high‑performing team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in accounting, tax and internal control environments, preferably in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of managing month‑end/year‑end close, statutory reporting and tax compliance.
• Deep knowledge of SOX requirements and experience implementing SOX control frameworks.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to assess complex accounting treatments and tax implications.
• Excellent communication skills to advise the CFO and interact with auditors and tax authorities.
