Restaurant Cleaning & Sanitation Lead

About the role

The New Duff is looking for a reliable, proactive and detail-oriented Restaurant Cleaning & Sanitation Lead to oversee the cleanliness, sanitation and organisation of its restaurant facilities in Nassau, Bahamas. The post reports to the Operations / Management team and calls for someone who can work independently, spot sanitation issues and communicate clearly with staff and management about corrective action.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen, food preparation, storage, service and common areas.
• Develop and follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules, and conduct deep cleaning behind and under movable equipment.
• Remove grease, food residue, dirt and other sanitation hazards, and keep stoves clean.
• Keep cleaning supplies, equipment, storage areas and garbage disposal points organised, and fix improper storage, misplaced equipment and clutter.
• Talk respectfully but firmly with employees about poor cleaning or storage, and report repeated concerns to Operations / Management.
• Spot pest-control, maintenance, equipment and safety issues, complete cleaning checklists and keep accurate records.
• Maintain consistent cleanliness without constant supervision, and safely move equipment to reach hard-to-clean areas.

Required profile

• Previous experience in commercial cleaning, restaurant sanitation, hospitality or a related field.
• Strong spoken and written English, and the ability to read and follow cleaning instructions and schedules.
• Willingness to perform physically demanding work, lifting up to 50 lbs safely, bending and standing for long periods.
• Reliability, punctuality and attention to detail; legally authorised to work in The Bahamas without employer sponsorship.
