Safety Technician – Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

About the role

This position supports the Manager, HESS and the Supervisor, Safety in implementing and maintaining safety programs at Carnival’s Half Moon Cay destination. The role ensures operational compliance, assists with inspections and audits, supports emergency preparedness, and promotes a culture of prevention across port operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct safety inspections of workplace and guest areas, perform job observations and monitor PPE compliance.
• Assist with fire safety checks, drills, incident investigations, reporting and risk assessments for new equipment and substances.
• Support oversight of contractor safety practices, permits‑to‑work processes and job‑safety analyses.
• Participate in cross‑functional emergency drills, maintain emergency supplies, and help execute response protocols.
• Maintain accurate records, support data analysis and collaborate with external vendors and contractors.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in environmental, public health, or safety preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in HESS‑related or operational support roles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Physically fit, able to work outdoors and stand for long periods.

Required skills

• Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Data entry and reporting tool experience.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety procedures.
