Housekeeping Manager

About the role

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the cleanliness, orderliness and appearance of the entire hotel, managing the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department and ensuring compliance with Choice Standards. The position is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure rooms are made up and all offices and public spaces are kept in line with Choice Standards
• Prepare and maintain the annual housekeeping budget with the Executive Housekeeper, and verify supply consignments
• Maintain par stock of guest supplies, cleaning supplies and linen, and organize inventory
• Develop and implement housekeeping systems and procedures, and prepare reports for management
• Conduct weekly room inspections as agreed with the Executive Housekeeper, General Manager and Choice Standards
• Recruit, schedule and train new housekeeping staff; assist with weekly payroll preparation
• Manage daily department activities, including cleaning guest rooms, offices and public spaces, and uphold high standards of cleanliness, safety and conduct
• Purchase, re-order and maintain housekeeping supplies and inventory
• Ensure the laundry van is in good condition, check licensing and inspection dates, inspect it daily for damage, monitor the laundry stain-wash process and report on recoveries and discards
• Ensure garbage chutes are cleaned and operable, and keep OOO (out of order) rooms under review with the Executive Housekeeper, Chief Engineer and Front Office Manager
• Take part in Choice University online training and assign it to team members, and keep up to date with Choice Standards and industry trends

Required profile

• Knowledge of health and safety standards within the housekeeping department
• Ability to plan, organize and direct team members to ensure guest satisfaction

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the property management system (PMS)
• Knowledge of Choice Standards
