Island Second Steward - Bahamas

About the role

Disney Cruise Line is hiring an Island Second Steward for its private island in the Bahamas. The role covers waste handling, sanitation compliance and guidance of crew on equipment and chemicals, and is based on the island itself.

Key responsibilities

• Assist and monitor waste handling and disposal, and ensure compliance with Bahamian requirements
• Instruct, understand and guide crew in the operation of equipment and chemicals, and in cleaning and sanitation procedures, taking corrective action when needed
• Monitor operating equipment inventories monthly and strive to minimize breakage and chemical consumption
• Interact with island management and monitor sanitation laws, policies and procedures
• Follow up with the Island Chef de Partie and Island Demi Chef de Partie, taking corrective action when necessary
• Suggest ways to improve operations and carry out additional duties assigned by leadership

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in food service management
• Interest in working on a private island in the Bahamas
• Legally authorized to work in the Bahamas
• Willingness to follow safety roles, emergency duties and environmental requirements, and to live in a multi-cultural, confined setting with strict rules
• Comfortable with a structured lifestyle, personally and professionally

Required skills

• Technical and functional understanding of food service operations
• Ability to work in a busy galley environment
• Ability to work with MSDS safety sheets
• Vessel sanitation program certificate or equivalent degree preferred

Candidates must obtain a criminal background check, bring approved work shoes, and pass drug and alcohol testing within the first week onboard and throughout their contracts.
