Marine Electrician for AUTEC Vessels

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Marine Electrician to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) on Andros Island, Bahamas. This shore‑based position involves maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical equipment on AUTEC vessels and deck support gear.

Key responsibilities

• Install new cabling and perform repairs on power distribution, control systems, generators, lighting, HVAC, alarm, and navigation lighting aboard ships.
• Operate the Marine Electric Shop, manage inventory, order and receive materials, and supervise an indigenous electrical helper.

Required profile

• High School Diploma plus trade school graduation, 10 years military, or commercial shipyard experience as Chief Electrician or Shipyard Electrician.
• Minimum 5 years of marine electrical experience with ship‑based power generation and distribution systems.

Required skills

• Knowledge of 3‑phase power systems (480 VAC, 220 VAC, 115 VAC) and low‑voltage DC alarm and lighting systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair diesel generators, voltage regulators, electric motors, switchboards, and lighting systems.
• Proficiency with test equipment such as Meggers and volt‑ohm meters.
