Phlebotomist - Exuma

About the role

Bonaventure Lab is looking for a certified, trained phlebotomist to work in Exuma. The phlebotomist provides efficient and friendly customer service while collecting blood samples and must also be knowledgeable in basic laboratory and safety protocols. The position is full-time and requires the candidate to work independently and to have their own living arrangements in Exuma.

Key responsibilities

• Explain blood draw procedures to patients and answer questions about the process
• Collect blood samples from patients by venipuncture
• Practice proper patient identification and label vials with patient names and dates
• Choose the best method for drawing blood depending on each patient
• Process all samples
• Work with a large number of patients of varying ages and health status
• Keep the phlebotomy cart or station well organized
• Follow infection control standards at all times
• Perform CLIA waived tests accurately and efficiently
• Perform ECG analysis
• Help nervous or frightened patients stay calm during blood draws

Required profile

• Certified phlebotomist; AMT or ASCP certification is optional
• Ability to draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications
• Empathy and strong interpersonal skills when working with patients
• Detail-oriented and committed to patient confidentiality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to stand for long periods and walk two flights of stairs during the day
