Security Officer

About the role

The National Sports Authority (NSA) manages the 450-acre Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre in Nassau, The Bahamas, which hosts local and international sporting events and attracts sports tourists. The Security Officer ensures the safety of employees, visitors and company assets, controls access at gates and controlled points, investigates security and emergency incidents and directs traffic.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor premises to prevent safety hazards, theft, violence or policy violations
• Circulate among visitors, patrons and employees to preserve order and protect property
• Check doors, windows and gates for signs of intrusion
• Respond to emergency situations and report suspicious behaviour
• Write daily activity reports on damage, theft, unauthorised persons or irregularities
• Investigate incidents and security breaches
• Adhere to company policies and legal requirements, communicate with the supervisor and provide customer service

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional security certifications are a plus
• Clean police record and working knowledge of local laws and regulations
• Previous experience in security, safety or law enforcement is an asset
• Ability to work shifts and physical fitness for long periods of walking, standing or patrolling
