About the role
The Clinical Psychologist will deliver comprehensive psychological assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation services to patients across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings within the Doctors Hospital Health System. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role focuses on evidence‑based interventions that promote mental health, emotional well‑being, and recovery.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychological evaluations, including diagnostic interviews, behavioral observations, testing, and standardized assessments.
- Perform suicide, violence, and crisis risk assessments for acute and chronic mental‑health presentations.
- Develop individualized, patient‑centered treatment plans with measurable goals and regularly review treatment effectiveness.
- Provide evidence‑based individual, group, family, and couples psychotherapy using modalities such as CBT, ACT, DBT, and trauma‑informed care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
- Document clinical findings, diagnoses, and treatment progress in compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
- Support program development, quality‑improvement initiatives, staff education, research activities, and strategic planning.
Required profile
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist with registration or eligibility under the Bahamas Health Professions Council.
- Demonstrated experience delivering psychological services in hospital or similar healthcare settings.
- Strong commitment to evidence‑based practice, patient confidentiality, and ethical standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
