Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About the role

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will work full‑time on‑site in Nassau, maintaining and repairing the heavy equipment and vehicles that support ShipX Worldwide’s shipping and logistics operations. The role ensures equipment reliability, safety and compliance while collaborating closely with operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair a variety of heavy‑duty assets and vehicles.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and document all work performed.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical issues and complete repairs safely and promptly.
• Collaborate with operations and dispatch teams to schedule service, minimise downtime and ensure equipment readiness.
• Maintain a clean, organized workshop and adhere to all safety protocols.
• Support continuous improvement of maintenance practices.

Required profile

• Experience performing equipment and vehicle maintenance on diverse fleet assets.
• Proven ability to service heavy equipment in an industrial or logistics environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical systems.
• Previous work as a mechanic or technician in transportation, construction, port or warehouse settings is advantageous.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations for heavy equipment and shop environments.
• Able to read technical manuals, service bulletins and maintenance documentation.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical capability to lift, bend and work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions.
• Relevant vocational training, certification or apprenticeship in mechanics is preferred.
