Senior Aviation Specialist – Technical Assistance Expert

About the role

NTU International A/S is seeking a Senior Aviation Specialist to provide technical, policy and investment support for aviation projects worldwide. The position will focus on delivering expertise to Sub‑Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia‑Pacific as part of the Global Gateway Transport and Urban Facility 2 programme.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prepare and implement aviation infrastructure and air‑transport projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design reviews and investment analyses.
• Support airport master planning, infrastructure development and air‑connectivity planning.
• Advise on airport systems, operational efficiency, safety, security and compliance with international and European standards.
• Assist with procurement, tendering, implementation supervision and O&M planning for aviation assets.
• Promote sustainable, low‑carbon aviation and integrate climate‑resilience, disaster‑risk reduction and ESG considerations.
• Support policy, regulatory and institutional reforms and improve investment climates for aviation.
• Provide capacity building and technical assistance to civil aviation authorities, airport operators and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate with public authorities, airlines, contractors, IFIs and development partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in aviation, transport engineering, urban planning or a related field.
• Extensive experience (minimum 8 years) in aviation infrastructure, airport planning or air‑transport policy.
• Proven track record delivering technical assistance or consultancy on large‑scale aviation projects.
• Strong understanding of European and international aviation standards and sustainable aviation practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
