Marine Operations Manager – Freeport, Bahamas

About the role

KOTUG is seeking a Marine Operations Manager to lead towage operations in Freeport, Bahamas. The role provides strategic operational leadership, ensures safety and environmental compliance, and supports employee development while delivering professional marine services to customers and regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee overall KSM operations in Freeport, reporting vessel status and customer relations to management.
• Manage vessel and crew budgets, OPEX, and provide operational summary reports.
• Conduct annual crew performance evaluations and manage crew rotation schedules.
• Assist in incident investigations and oversee hiring, termination, promotion, and performance management of crew members.
• Ensure compliance with BBH contract obligations, environmental, health and safety policies, and maintain equipment certificates.
• Analyze operating costs per vessel to drive cost‑effective operations.
• Foster a positive team atmosphere, develop and retain employees, and communicate with customers, regulators and senior management.

Required profile

• Proven management experience in the maritime industry, preferably harbour or terminal towage.
• Fluent English and strong leadership, technical and communication skills.
• Experience as a shipboard crew member and in shore‑side management of towing vessels or barges.
• Experience with ABS Nautical Systems NS5 and Master of Tug and Towing Vessels certification.
• Self‑motivated, collaborative team player willing to travel and seek guidance when needed.
