Quantity Surveyor (Roads and Earthworks)

About the role

We are recruiting an experienced, site‑based Quantity Surveyor to join a major roads and earthworks project in The Bahamas. This hands‑on position will use your cost‑management expertise to drive project profitability and ensure strong financial control.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, monitor and control project budgets with accurate cost forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Conduct site measurements, prepare interim valuations and manage progress payments.
• Administer contracts under FIDIC, AIA, NEC or JCT standards, handling variations, claims and dispute resolution.
• Source quotations, prepare tender documents and negotiate terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Produce detailed cost reports, financial statements and project performance updates.
• Identify financial and contractual risks and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements and industry standards.
• Collaborate with site engineers, project managers and design teams to align financial and technical execution.
• Monitor material usage, verify subcontractor claims, maintain accurate records and prepare final accounts.

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Professional accreditation (RICS, CIQS or equivalent) preferred.
• 3–5 years of site‑based experience on civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods such as earthworks, piling, concrete, drainage and roadworks.
• Proficiency in measurement software (e.g., CostX, MS Excel).
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently on‑site while reporting to head office.
