Ship-to-Shore Technician – Port Operations

About the role

The Ship-to-Shore Technician ensures safe and efficient docking and undocking of cruise ships at the port. Working on the dock, you will manage mooring lines, maintain equipment, and support overall port readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in safely docking and undocking cruise ships using mooring lines, ropes, and related equipment.
• Handle, inspect, and manage mooring lines, winches, fenders, bollards, and gangways.
• Maintain safety protocols, monitor weather conditions, and coordinate with ship captains, crew, and port authorities.
• Perform visual inspections and minor maintenance of pier fixtures, fenders, and mooring equipment.
• Clean and maintain pier surfaces, pressure‑wash decks, and operate cleaning equipment.
• Provide minor maintenance support for plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
• Participate in emergency response drills and follow HESS (Health, Environment, Safety, Security) procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma; maintenance knowledge preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) required within six months of hire.
• Three to five years of experience in mooring or related fields.
• Physically fit, able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lb, and work outdoors.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to read and write English and follow written procedures.

Required skills

• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic maintenance knowledge (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC).
