Construction Manager, Cruise Terminal - Freeport

About the role

CTL Maritime, part of the MSC Group, is building cruise terminals and destinations worldwide. Its Construction Manager for Grand Bahama manages the routine construction functions at the building site(s) in Freeport, The Bahamas, from notice to proceed through final construction and hand-over. The role requires travel and residence in Freeport, with at least 5 days per week onsite; a work permit is provided if required.

Key responsibilities

• Manage design-build teams, contractors, subcontractors and stakeholders to meet deadlines, contractual milestones and permit conditions
• Lead daily site operations so projects finish on schedule, within budget and to specification
• Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety and environmental regulations and local codes
• Coordinate with the design-builder to secure building permits and track material and equipment imports against project timelines
• Support and review contracts, drawings and construction documents; negotiate vendor contracts when needed
• Manage the project budget, estimates, invoices and pay applications, and process change orders
• Prepare progress reports, meeting agendas and minutes, and present project status to stakeholders
• Manage construction close-out, final certificates of occupancy, project acceptance, handover with the engineering and O&M teams, and the defects and liability period

Required profile

• 5 to 7 years of relevant construction management experience
• Residency in Freeport or 4-5 days per week there, or an 8 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation
• Experience in resort development and/or private destination islands, remote island settings; cruise industry project development highly desirable
• BS degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management; PE or equivalent license a plus
• Fluent English; additional languages a plus

• Extensive experience managing construction schedules
• Knowledge of design and construction requirements in island and hurricane-prone areas
• Design-build and alternative delivery methods such as Guaranteed Maximum Price
• PMP or equivalent certification a plus
• MS Office Suite, MS Project and construction software
