Lifeguard Instructor - Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

About the role

Carnival Corporation & plc is hiring a Lifeguard Instructor for its destination Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas. The instructor leads, supervises and ensures the safety of participants during lifeguard training sessions, oversees the use, maintenance and presentation of instructional materials and equipment, and gives constructive feedback so that training follows established safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead lifeguard certification and recertification courses, develop lesson plans, coach participants and give feedback
• Assist with onboarding, scheduling and development of lifeguard staff, and attend mandatory staff meetings
• Ensure compliance with StarGuard Elite training and safety regulations
• Maintain clean, safe aquatic facilities, classrooms and training equipment, and secure testing materials
• Monitor activities to prevent accidents, respond quickly to emergencies and reinforce safety rules
• Evaluate processes and recommend improvements in training, staffing, policies and procedures
• Support the Lifeguard Manager or Supervisor, special projects and events, and step in to cover other areas during shortages or peak periods

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience; hospitality or related education is a plus
• Internationally recognized lifeguard certification; Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
• At least 1-2 years of experience in a water safety environment in a hotel or related industry
• Fluent conversational English and strong grasp of the English language
• Physically fit, able to work outdoors and stand for long periods
• Shift schedule may be required at the destination

Required skills

• Guest-facing experience and customer service in a similar role
• Comfortable teaching and leading large groups
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry/reporting tools
• Working knowledge of computerized accounting and payroll systems
• Strong organization, time management, communication and problem-solving skills
