Phlebotomist

About the role

Bonaventure Lab is looking for a certified phlebotomist in Andros. The phlebotomist provides efficient and friendly customer service while collecting blood samples, and must also be knowledgeable in basic laboratory and safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Explain blood draw procedures to patients and answer their questions
• Collect blood samples by venipuncture
• Practice proper patient identification and label vials with patient names and dates
• Choose the best method for drawing blood depending on each patient
• Process all samples
• Work with many patients of varying ages and health status, keeping the phlebotomy cart or station organized
• Follow infection control standards and perform CLIA-waived tests accurately and efficiently
• Perform ECG analysis and help nervous or frightened patients stay calm

Required profile

• Valid, in-date phlebotomy certification (AMT, ASCP optional)
• Ability to draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications
• Empathy and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to stand for long periods and walk two flights of stairs
