Senior Water Treatment Systems Manager (Half Moon Cay, Bahamas)

About the role

The Senior Water Treatment Systems Manager supports multiple destinations and oversees the Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant and wastewater treatment system at Half Moon Cay. The role sets long-term vision, drives performance, ensures regulatory compliance and promotes operational excellence, collaborating across departments to improve processes and protect water quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the operation and maintenance of potable water systems, including RO plants, and plan their expansion; monitor water quality, pressure and flow rates
• Offer high-level technical guidance during ship calls, peak periods and special events, and lead emergency response and hurricane readiness plans
• Oversee annual maintenance plans, spare parts inventory, contractor coordination and preventative maintenance
• Manage the island's wastewater treatment facilities, effluent quality, sludge handling and laboratory testing protocols
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports, track KPIs, manage operating budgets and support procurement of chemicals, spare parts and equipment
• Lead and mentor the Water Systems team, set 24/7 schedules, run performance evaluations and enforce HESS policies
• Ensure compliance with Bahamian environmental regulations, coordinate inspections and audits, and support EIA and EMP work

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, chemical or mechanical engineering or a related field
• Experience managing SWRO systems and/or biological wastewater treatment processes
• 10+ years of experience in water treatment, desalination or wastewater operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Physically fit, able to work outdoors and stand for long periods; may work a shift schedule at various destinations

Required skills

• Membrane technology, pretreatment systems and high-pressure pump operation
• Knowledge of activated sludge, MBR, MBBR or similar wastewater processes
• Proficiency with BluMetric systems, PLCs and process instrumentation
• Ability to read P&IDs, technical manuals and laboratory results
